Counseling Services Offered
I provide counseling for adults, families, teens, and children. I believe in a client-centered approach to therapy that is centered on utilizing your strengths and resources to help you work towards living a healthy, fulfilling life.
My services and methods are uniquely tailored to the needs of individual or family. Counseling techniques that I commonly utilize are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Lifespan Integration Therapy (LI), Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems Therapy, and Play Therapy (for children). I provide either traditional counseling or Christian counseling, upon request of the client.
Child / Teen
Children and teenagers can also benefit from counseling. Parents and families may be under stress from their child or teen experiencing problems with behavior, school, or managing emotions. As parents are the primary “counselor” in their child’s life, I offer a third party point of view, guidance, and support. Together we can help your child or youth reach their goals, feel healthy, and be more successful at home and school.
At the first appointment, I will get to know you and your child/teen, hear about the problems they are experiencing, and we will set up some goals to help your child/teen improve their health and well-being. We will decide together what approach fits your child/teen best, and develop a plan of action for their counseling sessions. I have extensive experience in working with children and youth. I have over 10 years of experience as a Child Mental Health Specialist for Washington State, a background in child and youth crisis services, and as a former middle school teacher, I maintain my Professional Level teaching certificate.
I use a variety of approaches in treating children and youth, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Family Systems Therapy
Play Therapy
Lifespan Integration Therapy (consultant+certified)
Adult
Individual, adult counseling is a great way to heighten your understanding of yourself and those around you. I offer you a safe place where your hurts will be met with compassion, and I will partner with you to help you reach your goals. Counseling is an opportunity to experience acceptance and care in an environment where I will encourage you as an adult to utilize your strengths and resources to make changes in your life.

Family
Being part of a family offers us a unique opportunity to grow as an individual and in community. Families were designed to offer us strength, encouragement, and love. Unfortunately, they also have the potential to hurt and not function as they should. I enjoy working with families to explore the problems they are experiencing as a group, and some of the beliefs and communication that may be preventing the family from functioning as it should.
Why family counseling?
Here are just a few reasons why families often choose to participate in Family Counseling:
To improve parent-child relationships
To improve sibling relationships
Communication issues
Resolve conflict
Child behavior problems
Substance abuse
Foster care/adoption
A unique change the family may be experiencing, such as a move, divorce, death in the family, etc
I offer family therapy but I do not offer couples/marital counseling.
